Birth Afffirmations
As the birth of your baby approaches you may find that you are a bit anxious about what that experience will be like. Whether or not you will be able to cope with whatever labour brings. As the labouring mother, your ability to stay calm, confident and in control of your labour has a great effect on the outcome of your birth experience. Not only does a calm and relaxed woman who feels safe, secure and loved generally progress through labour quicker, she also tends to experience less pain and looks back on the experience in a more positive way.
One of the ways that women have found to help reduce anxiety, build confidence in their ability to deliver their child and feel positive about the upcoming experience is to practice some birth affirmations prenatally.
Here are three different sets that I have put together for you. Pick out a couple affirmations that connect with you and run them through your mind in the weeks leading up to your birth day. You can practice them with some breathing techniques, birth positions, or as you're working or doing chores. The idea is that when you are in labour the affirmations that relaxed you or helped you feel confident in your ability prenatally, will come to mind when you need them most, and you will find strength or calm from those affirmations, and in turn be able to handle labour in a positive way.
Each of the three sets is a printable PDF that contains between eight and sixteen affirmation cards. Enjoy!
